roaring ocean

so because of the recent elections in Togo, as a crew we have had very tight restrictions on where we can go in the city and our curfew time...anyways to cut a long story short today was the first real trip out for about 2 weeks. yesterdays shift was hard - i ended up being on the wards from 7am till 10pm at night due to an emergency. so when i was unexpectedly given the day off today it was finally time to be free and go out....not to the city, not to the bustling market or a hotel, but to the roaring ocean, to the beach with a million million sandgrains, to freedom and a salty breeze. even tho it was overcast, we had a lovely afternoon in crystal plage - just a few kilometres from the ship - you could see the patients sitting out sunday afternoon on deck 7.

as soon as we arrived we all went into the ocean. huge mighty waves pounding over us and spray flying everywhere. surfable waves coming one after the other. white water reaching over us as we jumped high and braced ourselves as the pull of the return as the water sucked away through our legs.it was just what my heart needed, freedom and the power of nature right there before my very eyes. i was reminded of the scripture...
'Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty! Psa 93:4. we are loved my a mighty God, mightier than the waves of the sea; the power of the waves are nothing compared to his power and his love for us. as i was standing with my heart uplifted yesterday afternoon, i was filled up again with that perfect love-ready for a new week and more people to love on and share life with.
