sorry for the quietness during the last days....i am just surfacing from 4 night shifts over this last weekend...and as all those night shift workers will know, u just eat and sleep and shower and work - 44hours worked in 4 days! i am tired.
but there are somethings that need writing about, requests for prayer and things to share.
for starters i was once again asked whether i wanted to step up to the position of charge nurse...so after some days carefully considering if i have accepted the request - so theory training starts for 3 hours on thursday and then 2 orientation shifts with another charge nurse next week - then out on my own! i was asked to do this position (a wee bit prematurely) during my time in benin, which i obviously declined, but i have now come to realise that i am taking on lots of the responsibility and support for the other nurses already. so becoming charge nurse will just complete that role, being able to serve the other nurses and continue to be stretched and challenged in all that God has in store for me for the next 3 months. im sure there'll be many more stories to share over the coming weeks - from a charge nurses perspective rather than a ward nurses!
there are also some other things to share - we have another of our infant feeding programme babies that are sick. this time after surgery - his lip is now fixed from today, held together with steristips, as good as new. but his lungs and body are failing him this time. arresting on the operating table and then almost again this evening in the ICU, oxygen just not getting into his lungs for a variety of reasons.please pray for him and his mamma as they lie side by side in D ward with a large anaesthetic machine passing oxygen into and out of his lungs (the tubing for the paediatric vent is held up in customs), for open, non spasmed and healthy lungs, strength and healing.
thankyou.
