slave trade

well i can't believe its been a whole week since I posted last. At the beginning time was going slowly and everyone kept saying to me that it would speed up. well it certainly has sped up...this week has gone fast, but its been good. i had 3 evening shifts, mon, tues, weds - all of which were busy, but good. Patients are healing and going home and more surgeries are being carried out. the hospital is open for another few weeks only - then we sail to tenerife. At the moment there are still a good number of wounds that are still far from being closed - both for inpatients and those patients who visit the ship each day for dressing changes. Supernatural healing is needed - from a human point of view we are/have done all that we can, but unfortunately time is running out on us. we are fasting and praying here, please do join me in lifting these precious people up to our Heavenly Father. (there are too many to name them all). He is a loving, miracle working, healing God; God of the details.

so as for the other news; yesterday I had a lovely day off so went on a little african adventure to Ouidah and Casa del Papa. Laura, Melissa and myself had a taxi for the day and travelled east along the beach road for about an hour to Ouidah - an area involved in the slave trade. we saw the gate of no return and visited a museum, within the grounds of one of the forts that the slaves collected in before being sent to sail. unfortunately the translation was poor so there was so much history that i didnt get! we then travelled another 7km down the bumpy sand road to Casa del Papa - a lovely beach resort where we had lunch - it could have been anywhere! Dipping my toes into the roaring atlantic and running over the roasting sand, was a lovely bit of light relief! good chill time to recharge the batteries!!

i have also manage to get the photos of my visit to the tailors from Daniella. my african outfit fits perfectly - feel rather lovely wearing it. I wore it to ward church on sunday and fitted in with the women very well.

tonight i start night shifts and i finish tuesday morning! ouch ouch.

we are just bunkering - taking on fuel...so just going to watch the process on deck 8!
love x
