so once again the speciality that the surgeons are focusing on has changed...orthopedic, plastics, maxfax, vvf and now to general surgery. So the wards are now full of hernias and goitres --- basically football sized lumps on necks or tummies! its a change of pace as well...with the patient stay averaging 3 days rather than the usual week plus in some of the other cases.
As I prepare to come home I feel that I am changing pace as well. It is now 8 days until I step onto a plane and return to you all and I cant help but begin to reflect; on all that God has revealed to me, things i've learnt and had the privilege to be part of. It has been 10 months of living in a small cabin and of a port being my back garden; but the transformations in the patients bodies and lives will forever be in my heart.
I have begun to go through my things to give away all the extras that i've accumulated, putting together a powerpoint presentation to show you and organising a farewell meal this week.
My mind is turning to home; as one chapter ends, another equally exciting one is around the corner. But for now it is time for quiet reflection.
